Okay, so I used the name from a Saturday Night Live skit. Last Saturday, as we were getting David ready to go on the Jr. High mystery trip, the phone rang. It was someone from church, asking me to be on the Stewardship Committee. I agreed, and she sent me details about the committee's first meeting, which was Monday.
Upon arrival at the church on Monday evening, I was pleased to see that of the committee members, I knew all but two. After opening with prayer, we discussed what the committee's purpose is and the goal for the coming year. We brainstormed ideas to get our ideas out to the congregation. Billy had some books related to generosity at the meeting, one of which I borrowed and am really getting a lot out of! All in all, I found the meeting to be a success, and I am looking forward to working with the committee in the future!
Fast forward to Wednesday night. I play drums with the Saturday night praise team, and we rehearse on Wednesday. We were going over various songs for the service, and suddenly someone starts playing "Play That Funky Music" and everyone joins in! We do this quite frequently, and I love this about our group! We were invited to play at our church's annual chili cook-off next month, and I am really excited about it!
Last night, we were warming up before the service, when we discovered that one of our two female vocalists would not be there for the service. Since two of the songs required another female voice, I got to do it! Now I typically do sing along when I'm playing, I'm just not miked. However, I had to turn my head towards the mic, which definitely was a challenge. All in all, it was challenging, but I enjoyed it!
