Good evening, world! I had a really good Christmas! We got to visit with family on both sides and had a grand time! My big present from my parents was an Ipod. Actually, I got the Ipod and David got the accessories, so it's really a joint gift. I'm really enjoying it so far! I got a really pretty United Methodist pendant and some great perfume from David (among other things). The neatest thing about this Christmas was getting to spend it all with David. Previously, either he or I was out of town, so this year was really nice! Yay!!!

I'm glad that I have the rest of this week off! I had intended on spending Monday in my pajamas, but that didn't happen. I got dressed, but didn't stray far from home. I got a stuffy nose over the weekend, and it was still there yesterday. I took some medicine, but it made me feel seriously drugged. I tend to have that happen with a lot of different medicines. At any rate, I wound up conking out on David last night.

I also got a phone call from my friend Becky yesterday! Becky and I have been friends for fourteen years! She played French horn and I was percussion, and their section sat right in front of ours back in middle school. We've been through a lot together, but I haven't seen her in two and a half years. In fact, the last time I saw her was when we went to the Women of Faith conference in August of 2002. I remember telling Becky about this nice guy named David that I had gone out with a couple of times. Wow, how things have changed since then! At any rate, she is coming to town on Thursday, and we are getting together. She's also going to meet David! I am really excited about seeing Becky again. She's going to be one of my bridesmaids and will also sing during the ceremony! It'll be fantabulous!!

Well kids, that's a wrap for tonight. Go out and make it a great one!!!!

Brag Moment: I want to take a moment to brag on my mom. She painted a Nancy Drew cover, and here is her rendition! Wait to go, Mom!!!

Quote of the Day: "A friendship can weather most things and thrive in thin soil; but it needs a little mulch of letters and phone calls and small, silly presents every so often - just to save it from drying out completely." -- Pam Brown.

Christmas gift, everyone!! It's early Christmas morning, and I can't sleep. (Which is actually pretty unusual for me. I typically do not have this problem on Christmas morning.) This week has been absolutely crazy!! We've been cleaning, buying and wrapping presents, preparing food and all the other fun stuff that goes into a family holiday. For my dad's side of the family, this Christmas is especially neat, because everyone is in town. That makes thirty-two of us, which is my grandparents, their children and spouses, grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Now us grandkids are starting to get married and have children too. As it is increasingly difficult to get everyone together these days, this year is special.

We did a Chinese gift exchange with the family last night. I started out with a boxed set of standards sung by some of the great vocalists. Well, that got stolen from me as part of the game, and I ended up with a Frank Sinatra cd, with a Starbucks gift card. I think I came out pretty good. I'm listening to the cd as I type this, and am really enjoying it!

Since we were all together, there were lots of pictures taken last night. We always joke that if any of us become rich and famous, we will already know what it feels like to be around the paparazzi! There were so many pictures taken, you go around seeing spots for awhile. Oh well, that's just part of the fun!

I'm waiting for everyone else in the house to wake up, although I am enjoying the quiet time to myself. David is sleeping in the guest room, he's going to do Christmas morning with us, then we'll eat a nice Christmas breakfast before visiting at my grandparents' house again. Then David and I will run off to Abilene to visit with his family (my future family!) for a couple of days.

Anywho, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, and I wish everyone a safe journey.

Quote of the Day: "And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger; because there was no room at the inn." -- Luke 2:7.

This song has been going through my head! So here it is for you to enjoy!

WE NEED A LITTLE CHRISTMAS
From the show "Mame" (1966)
(Jerry Herman)

Haul out the holly
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking
I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now.
For we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Candles in the window
Carols at the spinet

Yes, we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
It hasn't snowed a single flurry
But Santa, dear, we're in a hurry!

So climb down the chimney
Turn on the brightest string of light I've ever seen
Slice up the fruitcake
It's time we hung some tinsel on that evergreen bough.

For I've grown a little leaner
Grown a little colder
Grown a little sadder
Grown a little older
And I need a little angel
Sitting on my shoulder
Need a little Christmas now!

For we need a little music
Need a little laughter
Need a little singing
Ringing through the rafter
And we need a little snappy
"Happy ever after"
Need a little Christmas now!
