Here's a funny. I was checking my e-mail tonight, when I noticed, among other things, there was an e-mail from Casual Male, Big & Tall, telling me about their sales and promotions. Now, I don't know about you, but last time I checked, I was first, of all, not male. I am also not what anyone would call big or tall. So why is it that I am getting e-mails from these people? Just wondering.Posted 12:17 AM by Dezi Rollins, LSSP | 0 Thoughts
He is Risen!!!!! Happy Easter, everyone! I had a fantabulous day today! (Technically yesterday.) We had my final dress fitting, then Heather and I ran off to attend a bridal shower. Our friend Karen from high school is getting married in May, and Heather is a bridesmaid. Anywho, Karen's family lived across from mine for ten years, so I got to know them pretty well. The shower was a lot of fun. We played some fun games, did a trivia contest (I came in third place for the trivia contest, but tied with another girl, so I let her have the prize.) We then did a game where we had to design a dress out of toilet paper, and Karen was the judge. Heather and I were both the "brides" in our respective groups. Someone took a picture of us, I'll put it on here whenever she sends it to me. We laughed a lot and had a great time.
Heather and I had previously discussed getting manicures after Karen's shower. Well, we went ahead and did it. Heather and her sister Holly love this place in The Colony called Tim Jon Salon, and that's where we went. Because of piano, I will not have long nails, so they just shaped and polished the nails that I do have. (Which considering I just trimmed them last weekend, I really didn't have much of a nail on any of my fingers.) They did a great job, though! We also both decided to get pedicures. For me, this is a big deal. I am EXTREMELY ticklish on my feet, so I always assumed I would be impossible to do a pedicure for. Well, I did jump a couple of times, and laugh a lot, but so did Heather and she's had pedicures before! It was really fun, and we decided we must do this more often. While we were there, we also decided to get our eyebrows waxed. Which was not fun, but my eyebrows do look a ton better! Heather and I decided that it is easier to do waxes and pedicures when there's two of us. I really liked the salon, and will definitely go back!
While Heather had on flip-flops, I had on tennis shoes and socks, so I had the goofy flip-flops that they give you when you get a pedicure. We decided to go to Payless, see Holly, and get me some cute shoes that were better for a pedicure. We found some adorable flip-flops with a white daisy attached. After that, I went to David's apartment and showed him my beautified self. I wore my cute flip-flops to dinner at Leonardo's, but the minute we got back in the car, I put my shoes and socks back on. Oh well, they still can look good under my socks.
Today is Easter Sunday, and we have a big day at church! The choir will sing at the two later services, then David and I will head out to my great aunt's house for the family Easter get together. I need to get to bed! Have a blessed Easter!

Here I am in Abilene, for the wedding of Jeffrey and Samantha. The Dezimobile got to take another trip, as David and I drove out here. We left Thursday night arriving in Abilene about 8:30 p.m. The family arrived Friday afternoon. I had a grand time shopping with two of David's aunts. Although I didn't find anything, it was a lot of fun.The ceremony itself was beautiful. The Rollins' living room was transformed into a wedding chapel. I happened to have a cd of wedding music in my car (well, Heather and I have to listen to mood music when going to do wedding stuff) so I was in charge of music, as well as photography. I got some great pictures with Barbara's camera, which can be seen on her site. Both the bride and groom looked wonderful and I don't know about anyone else, but I had tears in my eyes more than once during the ceremony. I wish them the best as they start their new life together. Congratulations, Jeffrey and Samantha Rollins!
I enjoyed talking with David's relatives, and spent a lot of time talking to his not quite three year-old cousin Rachel. She and I are buddies. She wants to play drums when she gets in the band (gee, I wonder who might have planted that idea in her head) and I promised to get her some pink drumsticks.
Today, I saw an advertisement in the paper for a sale at Stein Mart, so Barbara, David and I journeyed out there. I found a couple of tops and a black skirt. And no, amazingly enough, nothing I bought was pink! We then went to the mall, because David wanted some computer stuff from Best Buy. I picked up a movie and a couple of cds. After lunch, we came back here and just hung out. I've been reading and watching movies all afternoon. It has been a wonderful trip!

I had one of the best weekends I've had in a long time this past weekend. First, I had my second dress fitting. Heather and I drove together, getting lost only a couple times. (I'm so glad David is better at finding his way around than I am. Otherwise we'd both be in trouble!) After we left the bridal salon, she and I ate lunch at Macaroni Grill. We were having fun coloring on the table, she wrote a message in front of me that said "I'm the Bride" and I wrote one in front of her that said "I'm the Maid of Honor." Yes, we are dorks, but we already knew that! After lunch, we ventured out to McKinney to check out the Bridal Portfolio. It is this really amazing place that apparently is THE place to go when you are getting married. Heather, Holly and I had gone out there before to try on gowns, but everything was a little out of my price range. However, we wanted to go out there to look at accessories. While we didn't find anything there, we discovered a charming little boutique next door called Lulu's!
They were having a sale on a bunch of stuff and I hit paydirt! They had this adorable outfit on the mannequin outside the store, and they just happened to have both the skirt and blouse in my size. Hooray! That is not something that happens very often. Something that Heather and I were laughing at is that almost everything I bought was pink. Except the black camisole (to be worn under the pink and black striped shirt) and the black flower-print skirt. I am definitely in a pink clothes phase right now. I don't know, maybe I've watched Legally Blonde one too many times. Oh well, but Heather bought the cutest pink flip-flops, and they had rhinestone initial clips, so she put her name on them. It was totally cute!
After the McKinney field trip, I dropped Heather off and went to visit with our friends Lisa and Jeff. (Plus I got to hold baby Jakob. That was a treat!) Lisa and I go and see chick flicks with each other so we don't have to drag our guys with us. So we decided to go see The Wedding Date. It was a cute movie, and totally predictable. We both really enjoyed it, but we knew the guys would not have. We walked around the mall afterwards, I was showing her our registry stuff at Dillards. I then introduced Lisa to non-caffeinated drinks at Starbucks. And now we have another Starbucks fan. We went back to their house, where David, Jeff and Jakob were watching a movie. The guys were nice enough to get take-out from Olive Garden and we had a great evening!
Sunday morning, I was wearing my new suit (bought at the Petite Sophisticate outlet in Hillsboro.) I got lotsa compliments on my new suit and felt really great! Sunday afternoon was spent relaxing and hanging out with David. And catching up on taped episodes of What Not to Wear. David put that show on his SageTV program, so I get to see several episodes at once! I love that show!

Well, I am in a rotten mood right now. I've been kind of moody the past couple of days, not really upset at anything, just feeling grumpy in general. I've had a pretty good week. In Lake Dallas, I've been doing a lot of IQ and achievement testing the past few weeks. This week I was testing first graders. There was one boy who was so cute, I wanted to take him home with me. I was in the middle of the achievement test, when he starts talking about Jesus and Heaven and asking me questions about it. I tried to answer him so he would understand, and he seemed to comprehend what I was saying. I thought that was really neat that we got to have that conversation. Something funny that he asked me was what was I going to be when I got big. I tried to tell him that I am big, but I don't think he believed me.Another neat incident happened on Sunday. After Merry Music Makers rehearsal was over, one of the older girls in the choir came up and gave me a hug and said,"I love you, Miss Desiree." I returned the hug and told her I loved her too. It was really sweet.
Tonight was Women's Night Out, which is where the women of Grace Avenue gather for food and fellowship. It's neat to get to know the women of our church. We had several new faces there tonight, that was nice. However, the waiter's service left much to be desired. While I certainly understand that it takes awhile to print out our separate checks, he took forever to do anything. Drinks went unfilled, empty plates remained at our table and he was nowhere in sight. I finally got up and asked the hostess to please send him our way. Oh well, even with the mediocre service, we still had a fun evening.
Tomorrow (or actually today) morning, David and I will jump in the Dezimobile and drive down to Austin to attend a wedding. I'm looking forward to seeing David's Aggie friends! Have a great night, world!
