Fantastic Friday

Well, today has been a great day! After yesterday's trip to the grocery store, our pantry & fridge are well stocked with food. I had a wonderful breakfast of Honeycombs. I'd forgotten how much I love those! Yay!

I had a lunch date scheduled today with Christi, in Plano, so I decided to hit the Allen outlet stores before lunch, thanks to leftover Christmas money. I only went in two stores, the Ann Taylor factory, & Casual Corner Petites. I wound up buying three tops at Casual Corner. Unfortunately, I also found out some bad news. Casual Corner & Petite Sophisticate are closing as of the end of January. Booo! That is where I go to find Dezi-sized clothes, and now they are closing, so what am I going to do? Where am I going to find clothes? Oh well, I'll figure something out.

Lunch was nice. I hadn't seen Christi since the wedding, so it was great to catch up with her. We talked about a bunch of stuff, and had a nice visit. Afterwards I went to Target to get a new alarm clock for David, since his has officially stopped working. I found a good clock, and decided to use another gift card and went to Starbucks. They gave me a grande drink instead of a tall at no extra charge, so yay! Of course, now I'm going to be really hyper, but oh well.

Now I'm sprawled out on the couch, drinking my frappuccino, and watching 13 Going on 30. It's a total Dezi movie. I love all of the 80s references and music in it. I saw it for the first time at my bachelorette party, and I got it for Christmas! I hope everyone else had a good day and has a great weekend!

This is Scary

Today was a good day! It was my last day of practicum before the break. So I have a couple of weeks off. Hooray! The morning was spent editing reports and making sure all my end of semester paperwork was in order. Then I had a short supervision session before leaving. Supervision went okay, we discussed what will happen next semester. I'm looking forward to some parts, others, not so much.

Anywho, I got an e-mail tonight that was very scary. It was from Classmates.com, regarding my ten year high school reunion! I sent my reply to the e-mail, and then will receive my official packet in the coming months. It's kind of scary to think that it is just around the corner! It does not seem like it has been ten years since I got out of high school. Am I that old? I definitely do not feel that old.

A really weird coincidence: David & I watched Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion earlier this week, and it got me to thinking about my upcoming reunion. Then the e-mail comes today! Weird, huh? I know it probably sounds really dorky, but I'm actually looking forward to the reunion. I wasn't really popular, but I am looking forward to seeing the friends I did have! It'll be here before I know it! Now the important thing to think about: what am I going to wear?!?!

A Touch of Creativity

Well, the good news is, all of our Christmas shopping is finished as of today. I was very pleased with the gifts that we chose for people. In some cases, what we had planned on was not what we got, sometimes I'd see the perfect gift for someone was different than what we had thought. I'm so glad to have that all over with.

I spent a good chunk of the afternoon wrapping presents, particularly the presents we'll take to Abilene this weekend. Some of the gifts that we made were really hard to wrap with wrapping paper. So I decided to try something different, and it worked! We have a bunch of brown lunch sacks, so I cut shapes out of the bag and taped colored saran wrap on the inside of the bag. It turned out rather nicely! Hooray for creativity!

Make a Joyful Noise

Sunday was a busy day for the music ministry at church. During both of the services, the adult choirs combined forces to sing our Chrismas concert. We were accompanied on one of the songs by a hammer dulcimer. That was really cool, and I want to learn how to play it!

Sunday night was the children's Christmas concert. My little ones went on first. I had their parents bring them about thirty minutes early, so we could rehearse. They all looked so nice in their dressy clothes! We also practiced getting on and off stage. Well, when it came time to perform, one of the boys decided to show everyone his belly button. Another kid noticed that he was next to the microphone, so he sang very loudly into it. They were very cute, and I received lotsa compliments on their performance! Now we're on break until mid-January. I'm looking forward to rehearsals in the new year!

Sometimes My Life is a Sitcom

Thursday, UNT was closed for the day, thanx to the lovely weather we were having. I spent the day doing stuff around the apartment, as well as getting our Christmas cards all addressed and ready to go. Thursday evening, we had an adult leadership meeting up at church for the youth group. There was still some ice on the road, I was a bit nervous as I went to my car.

I started backing up, and realized there was a large sheet of ice right behind my car. I went really slow, and got past it okay. I drove to Taco Bueno to pick up dinner for David & I. I got a drink carrier for our beverages and placed it on the floor on the passenger side of my car. Well, I turned onto Preston road, and heard the drinks fall over. Since I was at a red light, I put the car in park and grabbed the drinks. Unfortunately, it had spilled, but the lid was still on. I thought I could put the drinks between my legs to keep them upright. Well, the spillage got on my pant legs, and the seat of my car. So I was driving around with wet (and sticky) pants. Finally, I'm almost to the church when my cell phone rings. I had my gloves on, and couldn't feel it in my purse. Oh well. Luckily, I got to the church and everything was fine.

For some reason, I wind up having goofy things like that happen to me quite a bit. On days like that I keep expecting someone to come up to me and tell me I'm on Candid Camera. Or I feel like I'm on some television show and am waiting to hear the laugh track. At least I can laugh at myself, I guess.

Snow Day

I had a client appointment as well as a meeting out in Ft. Worth today. I knew how cold it was, but the roads out here were okay. However, about an hour before I was going to leave this morning, I got a phone call from my supervisor, saying the roads were bad in Ft. Worth and that the meeting was cancelled, and I should cancel any appointments out there.

So I had an unexpected day off. However, I was having a serious case of cabin fever! I decided that since I was home, I might as well clean something. So, I did. The living room looks really, really good now! It looks so much better now, I was very pleased with the results.

David came home early from work, and decided to light a bunch of candles. I thought it would make a neat picture, so here are some of those pictures. I took some with a flash, then turned the flash off. I thought they turned out pretty decent. I like to take pictures and play with cameras.

We finished off the evening by having a romantic dinner by candlelight. We ordered Chinese food from the place across the street, David was brave enough to walk across to pick it up. We then watched a really cute movie. It was definitely a great ending to a good day.

Life Happenings

Hello, world! It is a beautiful (albeit COLD) Monday afternoon. It is so hard to get up early when it is so cold outside! Especially since I have to do a lot of walking around campus. Oh well, the cold just makes me walk faster. Exercise is a good thing.

I put up some pictures from Thanksgiving. I also started a new album of pictures from church events. I have pictures up from the Pumpkin Patch, and will have pictures from the upcoming Christmas concert shortly. Finally, I have updated some pictures on the Friends album. Lotsa pictures for you to enjoy!

Christmas is approaching so quickly! I can't believe how fast this year is going by! Granted, most of it was spent wedding planning, but even after the wedding, time has flown by. Remember when we were celebrating New Year's Day? Now we'll soon be welcoming 2006. Here's a scary thought: my ten-year high school reunion will be coming up in the new year. I've been out of school for almost ten years? Wow!

Yesterday, I was working with my little ones on a Christmas song to sing for the children's concert next Sunday. They love the opportunity to sing in front of their parents and are very excited about singing for the congregation next week! The adult choir is also singing next weekend, but while the kids are singing at night, we are singing during the services.

After choir, we had an Advent workshop. They had various crafts you could make, learn about the Advent wreath, decorate cookies, etc. A couple of guys had their guitars and were providing the musical background. They asked me to come up and help them sing, so I did! We had some really good three-part harmony going on, it was really fun! A couple of my Merry Music Makers came up to the front where we were sitting, and we wound up having a decent-sized sing-a-long. It was a lot of fun!
